Brill and the Dragators Book Review

(or Brill of Exitorn) The Exitorn Adventures by Peggy Downing.

These stories, (the few we were able to get our hands on) delighted us as children.

I am sorry to say I only have book 1, 2 and 4. Some day I would love to get my hands on the others for my own kidos.

Book one was my favourite of the three we read.

We are introduced to Brill, who lives in a fantasy world created by Ms. Downing. It’s quite engaging and funny.

Brill is just a peasant boy, living every day life with his family. But one day at school he is required to take a test but has no idea what it is for. Afraid of the outcome, he deliberately does poorly on the test, hoping to fail, so that he will not be taken away from his family. Surprise, surprise, (without spoiling the story) He is chosen to be a companion for the prince; Prince Grossder. Who is spoiled and eats everything covered in chocolate!

The adventures only continue from there!

Brill befriends Segra companion to Princess Florette. Segra is seacretly trying to free the previous king from prison, and she wants Brill to help. But Brill is afraid if they are found out, they will be thrown into the moat and be eaten by the Dragators!

Along the way Brill has to learn that following God’s will is better than following man.

These books are good for ages 8-12
